Given the speed at which it’s taken off over the past 20 years, you wouldn’t think the web would need any help finding its way into people’s homes. And yet, recent figures suggest that smartphones have been just what the internet needed; the latest report from the Pew Internet Project show that 25% of Americans now do most of their web browsing on their smartphones, rather than on a computer. On top of this, 87% of smartphone owners check the internet and e-mail on their phones, with 68% doing this every day. Of those users who primarily surf the net on their phones, around a third also lack a high-speed home broadband connection.
